Boys Brigade Summer Camp 2016
Hope everyone enjoyed the video highlights of our 2016 summer camp, our summer camp is always an important part of Boys Brigade life and once again it was another great success. The best way to describe our summer camp is by the following poem by Kimberly Rinehart which summaries it perfectly we feel:
“Camping is more than just getting away.
It’s the clear blue sky, the song of a bird, the beckoning woods, the wide open spaces.
Camping is greeting the breath of dawn unhindered by the walls of city life and watching the sun set in ribbons of colour as it says “goodnight” to a perfect day.
Camping makes hearts grow lighter and food taste better.
It’s sharing songs around a campfire and gazing up in silence at a star-filled sky.
Camping is more than just getting away. It’s the thing we need to rekindle the spirit of a simpler time, refresh our hearts with nature’s beauty, and remind us that life doesn’t have to be so complicated after all.”
Once again we camped in Arundel in West Sussex, which has always been a favourite for us. The activities this year included, Footgolf (Basically golf but with a football), Wide Games, Swimming, Badminton, Archery, Crazy Golf, Crafts, Zorbing and plenty more.
This year our theme was the Olympics and our morning thoughts and evening prayers were all related to this theme. We also held a special Olympics BB v GB and after a very close competition the girls came out victories, even with the boys cheating!!
At the end of another amazing week with all the tents carefully packed away for next year we keep the memories of friendships, good times, the delicious meals, new experiences close to our hearts. We leave with a smile on our faces, knowing we will be back again next year. A special thank you must always go to the staff, who every year gives up a full week of their precious holidays just to make it happen. Without their dedication it would simply not happen as it takes a great deal of organisation to pull of an amazing camp.
